Hi Infarrantly Creative friends! It’s Sarah from Sarah M. Dorsey Designs and I’m back to share a simple update to an old trunk that anyone can do. A few weeks ago, I found a beaten up antique trunk at a thrift store for only $7. Yes, $7! I love thrifting! Once cleaned up, it was a little better, but it still needed a wow! Inspired by the latest issue of HGTV magazine, I created a bright, modern take on an old trunk.
DIY Painted Striped Curtains for a Boy’s Room
I love painting fabric. I have done my fair share of it as well. My painted stenciled headboard was even featured in Better Homes & Gardens magazine last year. I also have a great post I put together on my top tips for painting fabric. When Erin and I were trying to figure out how to add color into her son’s room painting striped curtains went to top of the list – especially when we couldn’t find fabric in the exact colors she was looking for. Since I had painted curtains previously I knew this would be a simple project – especially with both of us working on it together. It was a great way to tie all the colors we wanted in the room.
Upcycled Painted T-Shirt Skirt
I am on a t-shirt kick this week. Did you see the scarf and dress I made for Kayla already? I thought it would be fun to paint stripes on an old t-shirt (that got accidentally bleached – DOH!) and turn it into a ruffled striped skirt for my daughter. Now I did this project a couple of years ago and my daughter still wears the skirt. While is is almost ready to be passed down on the hand-me-down train I thought we could retake a look at it once more before that happens.
