I’ve definitely decided that sorting my mail is one of the keys to keeping myself organized. It’s a minor but important stress reliever to know that I’m not missing anything important. My DIY mail organizer project generated a lot of interest, making me realize that I’m not the only one who struggles with knowing what to do with the piles of paper my mailbox (or elementary school) produces. Just in case my version doesn’t meet your needs or style preference, I’ve found 5 additional tutorials for mail and office organizers to share with you this weekend.
I have been hard at work getting my garage all organized before the cold weather begins. I then moved indoors…
Work got you down? Singing the office blues? Well, if you work at home, maybe it’s time to stop singing the blues and start painting your office….in shades of blue! I recently read that people are more productive in blue rooms. So if you want to get more done in less time, I suggest taking cues from this beautiful office designed by JLV Creative. Newsflash: kids come with stuff. We deal with toy clutter year round, and you know what else we deal with year round? Outdoor clothing and equipment. In the winter there are coats and boots, in the summer we have towels, suits, bubbles, and balls. So when I spotted these mudroom lockers in Traditional Home I was inspired. Here are five ways to get mudroom built-ins, with an emphasis on budget-friendly, DIY projects. Enjoy!
A little over two years ago, I posted 5 Ways to Fake Built In Shelving.  Evidently, there are a lot of people out there who are looking for ways to get the look of custom built-ins without the expense of hiring a carpenter.  And in the two years since I hit the publish button on that post, I’ve seen even more great examples of how people are using inexpensive shelving units to make gorgeous faux built ins.  So here’s the sequel, folks:  5 MORE Ways to Fake Built In Shelving.
Having a dedicated place to sit down and work, write, chat on the phone, or make lists is a luxury not all of us enjoy in our homes. Â It’s called an office space, and those of us who have a dedicated room for one need to count our blessings! Â Surprisingly enough, you don’t have to go to a designer showroom to get furniture like what’s pictured in the room above. Â There are ways to get that look for less, and I’m about to show you five.
I love painting fabric. I have done my fair share of it as well. My painted stenciled headboard was even featured in Better Homes & Gardens magazine last year. I also have a great post I put together on my top tips for painting fabric. When Erin and I were trying to figure out how to add color into her son’s room painting striped curtains went to top of the list – especially when we couldn’t find fabric in the exact colors she was looking for. Since I had painted curtains previously I knew this would be a simple project – especially with both of us working on it together. It was a great way to tie all the colors we wanted in the room.
Remember my guest bedroom?  I loved decorating that room.  The combination of coral and gray remains one of my all time favorites.  So it’s easy to see why this bathroom pictured at Martha Stewart Online stopped me in my tracks.  It’s a palette of gray, coral, and just a hint of blue–a match made in heaven with my guest room!
