It had been a while since I continued on with my craft studio makeover posts in my new house. If…
Work got you down? Singing the office blues? Well, if you work at home, maybe it’s time to stop singing the blues and start painting your office….in shades of blue! I recently read that people are more productive in blue rooms. So if you want to get more done in less time, I suggest taking cues from this beautiful office designed by JLV Creative. Take a look at the five different tutorials I’ve found to get the look of this pretty blue office for less.
Friends who have two story rooms in their homes tell me that those high ceilings can make decorating tricky. It’s a bit of a balancing act to keep the room from seeming cavernous when you are arranging furniture, draperies, and accessories. I spotted this lovely living room at Better Homes & Gardens, and it actually took me a minute to realize that this cozy room had a very high ceiling. This is the way to decorate a tall space. Here are 5 Ways to Get This Look.
This focal wall in a bedroom featured by HGTV.com stopped me in my tracks! How can you not take a second look at that fun rainbow striped wall? The striped wall, the bright colors, the refinished furniture–it’s all stuff I love. So of course I had to look for some DIY tutorials to help you achieve a similar look for less.
Having a dedicated place to sit down and work, write, chat on the phone, or make lists is a luxury not all of us enjoy in our homes. It’s called an office space, and those of us who have a dedicated room for one need to count our blessings! Surprisingly enough, you don’t have to go to a designer showroom to get furniture like what’s pictured in the room above. There are ways to get that look for less, and I’m about to show you five.
You guys, I think I’m in love…..with A ROOM. This room, a beautifully decorated sitting room in the home of Katelyn James. Katelyn is a photographer, and her artist’s eye for color and design really shows in this room that she decorated herself. I can appreciate the fact that this room doesn’t have to be full of furniture to make a style statement. It’s simply a beautiful room.
I love painting fabric. I have done my fair share of it as well. My painted stenciled headboard was even featured in Better Homes & Gardens magazine last year. I also have a great post I put together on my top tips for painting fabric. When Erin and I were trying to figure out how to add color into her son’s room painting striped curtains went to top of the list – especially when we couldn’t find fabric in the exact colors she was looking for. Since I had painted curtains previously I knew this would be a simple project – especially with both of us working on it together. It was a great way to tie all the colors we wanted in the room.
Painting plain curtain panels allows you to get the exact design and color you want. I always seem to have a hard time finding curtains that I like. I searched around looking for striped curtains. I was inspired by the Crate & Barrel Alston Panels for $99 a piece. So they were either way out of my price range or not long enough. I decided to customize some plain curtain panels from IKEA by painting gray stripes on them. They look amazing and totally changed the look of my family room.
Everything vintage is so cool right now. And it’s safe to say that most of us crafty, DIY-lovin’ gals love…
