I absolutely love sweet and tart frozen treats – slurpees, slushies, sno-cones, frozen lemonades, popsicles, you name it, I love it. What is worse is everyday when my 11-year old son runs his sno-cone business I am tempted to eat one. The unfortunate part is they are laden with sugar. Sugar is a natural inflammatory and my body doesn’t do well if I eat a lot of sugar. So I had to come up with an alternative if I was going to survive summer sno-cone business. I ate this all last year and managed not to have a single sno-cone. How is that for will power? Either that or my stand-in is just that good!

1/4 cup of lime juice
1/4 cup of lemon juice
1/2 cup of water
27 ice cubes
3 tbl of truvia or other sweetener (I use this one)

The benefit of lemon and lime is they help your body naturally rid itself of toxins. It acts as a natural detoxifier. And just for the record this girl hasn’t had a UTI (I used to get about 4-6 a year!) or kidney stones in 18 months drinking 1 drop of lemon in my water first thing in the morning. I bet you never thought I would say UTI in the same post as a slushy recipe. HA!
Add all ingredients to a high power blender. I use a Vitamix and blend on high for 45 seconds to a minute. if you don’t have a really good blender you might have to use a spoon to move the contents around until all the ice is blended.
