How To make the Candy Cane Ruffle Shirt

Step 1 – The fabric

Cut a 1” by 45” piece of striped red and white fabric.

I got mine at Hobby Lobby for $.58 for a 6 inch piece.

Step 2 – Ruffle

Sew a long basting stitch (the longest width stitch on your machine).

Pull the top thread to get it to ruffle.

Keep pulling the top thread until it all ruffles evenly.IMG_1788

Step 3 – Shape it

Starting at the bottom and working your way up pin the ruffled fabric in place the shape of a candy cane.

Then sew down the middle on the same stitch you ruffled the fabric with pulling the pins out as you go.

Cut off the end when you are done sewing.
