televisionsstand

The TV stand for the new family member coming to live with us (more on that later) is now complete.  Let’s rewind and see what we started with…

It was ugly with chipped wood, cracked drawers, knobs falling off and stickers on them.  Read more about the transformation here.

A little molding, a little paint, a little glaze, and some spray painted knobs…

IMG_1753 Quite the Roadkill Rescue wouldn’t you say?

I ended up getting the color “Silver Sage” from Restoration Hardware mixed into Behr Ultra Premium Plus paint.  This was the first time I used the Behr Ultra.  I must say I can’t tell much of a difference.  It only needed one coat but I also sprayed it on so I think it would have been one coat anyway.  I think if I had the Ultra Premium and just the regular Behr paint I would be able to give a better review.

After it was done it was a little lighter than I wanted so I bought $1.24 bottle of glazing medium and added some black paint.  There is no need to buy some expensive glaze when I only needed it for this project.  I also mixed up some of the glaze with the “Silver Sage” as well.

IMG_1739I painted it on and wiped it off with a paper towel.  If I was too heavy handed I just added some more of the “Silver Sage” glaze and evened it out…

IMG_1738IMG_1740  I love how the glaze gets into the grain of the wood and brings it out.IMG_1755I sprayed the knobs with Krylon Brushed Metallic in Satin Nickel like I did my doorknobs.

Notice the added molding to the drawers and at the bottom edge…

  1. Love the "Road Kill" part. My husband does "Search and Rescue" which could be anywhere, including in dumpsters and along the street or road. I must say, he has found some amazing things, and best of all they are FREE.

  8. I think I must not be a silver person – it clearly got a new life, just not sure what I think – I'm more of a crisp white girl though so the aged silvery look just doesn't make me overly excited… I'm sure it will look good where you put it and with the "stuff" on it… interesting comment on the Behr paint though…
