Project #2 – You’ll be Green With Envy

The second project my wonderful FIL and hubby made for me were lockers for my mudroom. If you have a mudroom and don’t have these you will be green with envy. I am so excited about these. It will be so nice to walk in from the garage, take off our coats and shoes and store them in the lockers and then walk into the house. They cost well over $1000 at Pottery Barn. We made them for less than $150 (with loving labor for free of course).
Here is Daddy’s Little Helper hard at work

Here is a picture halfway through the project before the trim was on. This is the basic guts.

Here’s my two heroes of the weekend proudly standing next to their project.
I can’t get a picture of the whole thing head on for you because the room isn’t big enough to get my camera far enough. At the top opening I will be putting lined baskets where we will store mittens, gloves, scarves, hats and other miscellaneous treasures in. At the bottom I will be getting milk crates with casters on them to put our shoes in.

Now all I have to do is figure out something for this. . .

This is opposite the lockers and it ain’t working for me. I am not a big fan of wire shelving and it is everywhere in this house. So I am hoping to find some inexpensive cabinets (like seconds or mismatches) at a cabinet shop that I can paint white and hide all my cleaning junk in.

Isn’t the color fun? I got some $5 OOPS paint at Home Depot in this orangey, mustardy, pumpkin color. So this whole room was a bargain!

My inspiration came from Restyled Home’s lockers, this website, and the lockers from this JDS home.
