PF CHANGs Lettuce Wrap Copycat Recipe

This copycat P.F. Chang’s Lettuce Wrap recipe is a quick prep that freezes well and is great for leftovers.

I love a good lettuce wrap.  If you find a great chicken or beef recipe with a lot of flavor, it tastes so fresh and healthy wrapped in lettuce.

It is also Paleo friendly, and a Trim Healthy Mama meal (which is the plan I follow).

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 large yellow onion
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 Tablespoon soy sauce (I used lite) or coconut aminos if you are Paleo
  • 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons of Hoisin sauce (You can buy this at the store, or make your own-SUPER simple. recipe below)
  • 1 tablespoon Rice Wine Vinegar
  • 1 can water chestnuts, drained and chopped
  • 1 bunch green onions
  • 2 teaspoons of sesame oil

Homemade Hoisin Sauce:

I make my own Hoisin Sauce so I can avoid additives and, mostly, sugar. You can check the full recipe with video in Homemade Hoisin Sauce in a Jar

Basically is about mixing all of the following in a mason jar and shake well:

  • 3/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup of peanut butter (I use no sugar peanut butter from Trader Joe’s) or Almond Butter if you are Paleo
  • 1 tablespoon of honey (but you can use any other alternative)
  • 4 teaspoons of Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 4 teaspoons of toasted sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

How To Make the PF Chang’s Lettuce Wrap:

1. Brown ground beef, and mix with one of my favorite Pampered Chef Mix N Chop or a wooden spoon to cook into crumbles.

Drain meat, and set aside.

2.  In the same pan, add the olive oil and onions to saute them.

Stir frequently until they are translucent, about 5 minutes.

3. Add the garlic, soy sauce, hoisin sauce and the rice vinegar to the onions.

Stir to combine for about minute.

4. Add the chopped water chestnuts, green onions, sesame oil and browned beef.

Stir to combine and cook for about 2 minutes.

5. Use butter lettuce or large green leaf lettuce. Wash and pat dry.

Add meat to lettuce and serve.

I like to make a double batch and freeze the rest!
