My Birthday Weekend

Well it is official. As of 10:48 PM Chicago time on August 10th, 2007 I turned 3o. (Sigh!) But my wonderful family spoiled me and I had a fantabulous weekend.

I hung out with my favorite Uncle Geno. It is very strange because all growing up he was the one who taught me how to play sports, tutored me in math, taught me how to think, was there cheering me on at my games, taking me camping, white water rafting, biking, fishing, and truly the one who made me such a competitive freak among numerous other things and now we are raising kids that are around the same age. This is Elizabeth.. my cousin, and Isaac’s 2nd cousin. They are 8 mos. apart. Geno works night shift so during the morning we hung out like two stay-at-home moms and walked around the block and watched our kids play in the pool, made lunches for them, and chit chatted. I love these moments with Uncle Geno. I don’t have them very often but I cherish the time I do get to spend with him. His son, Ben loved playing with Isaac. In fact, Geno watched Isaac all day Saturday (while I hung out with my Linds & Steph) and I guess Ben could have babysat him the whole day. This is funny…I wish I coould have seen this…I guess Ben would give Isaac a tennis ball and then Isaac would pitch the ball to Ben who would hit it with a baseball bat and Isaac would fetch it. So at 15 months he is ready to play baseball (my child indeed).

Saturday my cousins treated me to a fun day. We went to my cousin Steph’s house and watched her wedding video. They got me some a bunch of gifts. They know me all too well. It is about quantity of gifts, I love to open stuff. I also have a fettish about little things. They got me this cool soap that is in like a saran wrap dispenser but mini. You rip off a soap sheet and wash your hands with it. So cool. Then they got be a little comsetic purse filled with Ulta makeup goodies, an InStyle magazine, and glue sticks. They love me. Then we went to Ulta to get made over which was fun. There are a couple of things I can’t stand about my face. #1 When I smile I get this huge bag under one of my eyes. #2 I have fat eyelids so you can’t see the cool eyeshadow techniques unless I am super expressive or close my eyes. But enough complaining… this is my before and after shot.

And here is all of us after our makeover. Steph, me, and then Linds. (Yes they are twins).

We went to Boston Market, my favorite place to eat…yes I am a cheap date. Then we went to a comedy club called Zanies. They had a guy named Jimmy Dore there. I had never heard of him before but I guess he has done quite a bit on Comedy Central and stuff. He was pretty funny. He is notorious for poking fun at politics and religion. I thought I may be offended with the religious jokes but it was pretty stinking hilarious..Then on Sunday I went over to my Uncle Mark and Auntie Dee Dee’s house and had a big family picnic full of yummy food, water balloon games, mafia (best mind game ever), laughing, sweating, a little blood and the crankiest baby boy in the world named Isaac. My family rarely gets to see Isaac so now they probably think he is brat. I am like, “No really he is never like this, usually he is laughing and playing all day long.” They had this look like “Yah…sure…whatever you say…just don’t ask me to every babysit him.” All in all another great time with the Salzmann clan. I am blessed to come from a big family. (There is 0ver 45 of us when we are all together).
