memory jar
I love this sentimental gift idea from Cheri at I Am Momma Hear Me Roar.  I love that this LITERALLY can be given to anyone on your list.  Who doesn’t love to reminisce about the past and the special things done together?  Please welcome Cheri with her memory jar gift idea, and you can’t get more pennywise than this one!

Hi IC readers.  I’m Cheri from I Am Momma Hear Me Roar.  I’m happy to be here because I think Beckie is really awesome and this is a fabulous idea for a series.

When it comes to gifts, I am a sentimental person.  I love giving and receiving things that have a special meaning.  Giving a sentimental gift can not only mean a lot to someone, but it also doesn’t break the budget.  One of my favorite gift ideas is a Memory Jar.

You give it away as a gift to someone you love.  Just fill it up with your favorite memories of that person, written on slips of paper.  Decorate the jar and voila!  You have a meaningful gift for someone you care about.

You can also continue to add more memories as life continues.  If you have a really big jar you can involve other people.  I gave one to my mother-in-law and had all the siblings write out some of their favorite memories.

It can be a great idea for any friend or relative.  You could also dress it up with a nicer container and add a photo.  If my husband gave me something like this with our wedding photo in it and filled it up with our best memories I would LOVE it.  (Yes, that might be a hint darling.)

(This picture isn’t our wedding.  It’s my niece’s and I’m using it as an example because I think it’s the most gorgeous wedding photo ever.)

So instead of giving a gift that will soon be forgotten, give something that will bring joy again and again – memories.  Thanks for having me Beckie!

  1. I love this idea. I think hand written notes are one of the best gifts you can ever get. I says “I care” without clouding it up with too much “stuff.” Great job Cheri!

  2. Oh wow Cheri! That is awesome. I LOVE this. I am definitely doing it for my parents this year. We agreed not to give material gifts, so this looks like just the thing I need! THANK YOU!!

  3. We did this last year for my parents and they loved it and still have their jars displayed. Thanks for the great idea!
