Here are some things I loved in blogland this week:
My name is Beckie and I am a yo-yo dieter. Now there are a lot of things I would love to change about myself. At the top of the list has got to be my love/hate relationship with food. Ever since I hit my mid twenties I have either been dieting or gaining. Throw in two babies in the mix and it has been a BATTLE! I have been working hard in 2013 to get down to my goal weight of 150 (I am 5’ 8”).
I am so proud of many of my blogging friends who have recently written books! I can’t imagine the insane time and energy that goes into a project of that magnitude. Impressive beyond belief. Recently Ashley & Jamin from The Handmade Home launched an e-book called “Handmade Walls: 22 Inspiring Ideas on Bringing Your Walls to Life.”
More Than a House has a love for birds, so much so that she has a whole wall dedicated to it. She also designed this adorable “keep calm and sing a song” art. She has the printable for you to print on her site.
I have a thing for funky jewelry. When I saw this piece made by Mich L in LA out of a Listerine Pocket Pak I about flipped. She has pictures inside as well. Look at that cutie patootie face sticking out. How stinkin fun is that?
One of my readers took the definitions to a whole new level. How adorable is it to put vinyl lettering on your laundry room cabinets.
So remember when I made my vintage sheet into a skirt and I told you about the auction I went to? Well this piece was one of my purchases. Sad, ugly, dilapidated, but ready to be transformed and pop next to my chalk painted sofa table. So when Michaels invited me to join in the campaign to showcase their new line of fabrics I knew it was the perfect little piece to tackle.
People keep asking to see pictures of my baby bump. Here is me and baby girl at 25 weeks sans…
Happy 4th of July weekend friends! I hope you are taking time for barbecues, family, friends and fireworks! I have my meat marinading in the BEST marinade ever (I will share that with you this week) in preparation for our neighborhood gathering on Sunday. Here is what caught my IC eye this week.
The Kirk Crew has directions on making a personalized tie dyed towel. This would be a fun craft for the kids to do now that the heat is on in most parts.
The Thriftress was inspired by the Pottery Barn Kids catalog when she saw this….
She collected some merchandise from the dollar store and got to work and came up with her own version for about 1/20th of the price. So adorable!
I just discovered Positively Splendid this week and I love her use of bold patterns and bright colors. Just look at this adorable framed silhouette she made. Of course…ya’ll know I am a sucker for this color combination!
I have a love affair with paper beads and try to incorporate them in all the accessories I make. Janice Mae from Paperbeads.org doodled on some paper and then made them into paper beads.
How completely adorable are these?
If that isn’t enough look at the beauties she made with them. Click here and here for the how to.
The adorable twins Kris and Kim at DIY Dish made this beautiful garland for their 4th of July party. Functional and beautiful! Click here for the tutorial.
Over and out…I will see you on Monday. Here is wishing you a blessed holiday celebrating the wonderful freedoms we enjoy in the good U.S. of A!
My dear friend Stephanie from Somewhat Simple just launch her first e-journal for kids. This is perfect for the child that loves to write or doodle. My daughter isn’t old enough to do this yet but I am sure at age 6 she would love this. I got a copy of it and each page is so colorful and totally appeals to kids. Here is what she says about it…

I entered into a 30-day challenge issued by HGTV Home Fabrics and Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores on July 19th. My challenge was to redo a room in my house using their new line of HGTV Home fabrics. Well tomorrow night is the big reveal of the entire space.I will be posting the reveal here at 8:45 PM EST and then 9:00 – 10:00 EST there is a big Pinterest party revealing the 4 room reveals that the bloggers revamped. Then immediately following the Pinterest party the 4 of us bloggers decided to give you a glimpse of our rooms in living color. You can follow us live on G+ (you will have to click the start button right at 10:00 PM EST) for a one-hour event.
I have had a killer cold this weekend. The kind where your nose is like a faucet and your head is in a cloud. Ugh! Plus it is raining out so that only added to the rough weekend. I sound like a spoiled, whiny brat I know. But when mama ain’t feeling good, no one is!
Here is what caught my IC eye this week.
This tea wreath from Kojo Designs would be a great mother’s day gift for a tea lover.
Look at this tote bags that folds into a strawberry made by Ikat Bag. This is the perfect little gem to carry in your car for those, “oh-crap-I-need-a-bag” moments.
This isn’t necessarily a tutorial but I thought it was a cool find. Go to Storyline Online to have your child read to. They have over 20 of the best children’s storybooks to choose from. My all-time favorite children’s book is on there, “Thank you Mr. Falker,” my Patricia Polacco. If you haven’t read that story, take a minute…and grab a box of tissue too. This isn’t a new tutorial but I just found it this week. I have a tutorial here for the diaper wipe case. But how much more functional if you can tuck a diaper into it. Sew Spoiled figured out how to add a little pocket. I must make one before Kayla is potty trained!
Crafts By Amanda made this adorable art center out of crayon wrappers and a coloring book. What a great way to show off your children’s creations.
Check out all these talented ladies. Tell them IC sent ya!
Nine is Fine made this out of an old lamp! You must go see the before picture. This is on my to-do list! Amy from Design Intervention is on a reupholstery rampage. She took this beaten and tired red rocker from this… to this! Check out the details here…
And raise your hand if you have not seen Kate from Centsational Girl’s amazing bedroom transformation! You have to click on over there to see all the amazing details. I hope you are enjoying your weekend!
A few months ago I was introduced to Court Tuttle, brother of one of my favorite bloggers, Brooke from All Things Thrifty. Court is awesome and so super knowledgeable when it comes to SEO (search engine optimization). He wrote a FREE e-book just for the creative niche called SEO for Creative Bloggers. He has been super impressed at the quality content all of us creative types put out there. However, he sees how much we can grow when it comes to SEO.
In January I always set house goals and make a list of things I want to organize in January. Usually…
I hope you enjoyed Reupholstery Week here at IC. I had fun showcasing the new “show stealer” in my home. I can’t help but smile every time I look at the chairs. Now I need to spruce them up with some pillows and redo the table. One project always leads to another doesn’t it?
This is what caught my eye this week around the web.
I loves these magnets made by the Tiny Nest. I have seen them around blogland before but I love the black with the papers she chose. This is on my list of things to make.
I Heart Naptime made this adorable 1st birthday centerpiece chronicling the first year of her son’s life. I wish I had seen this about a month and a half earlier! Dang!
Frugal Home Design made this cute shelf with buckets to hold all of her kid’s art supplies.
Last, but not least, Megan from Almost Super devised a way to keep her toddler from unrolling the toilet paper. I laughed out loud when I saw this. The crafts us mothers come up with to keep our sanity cracks me up!
Who has plans for Valentine’s day? Yep I didn’t think so! Would you like Valentine’s Day plans that include an overnight stay and a couple message? Ooh la la! Come join the fun for a little romantic Valentine’s Day getaway.
I have a special guest here for you to oogle over. Twice Lovely rocks the furniture refabs! Another creative blog…
One of the things I learned at Blissdom (that I totally suck at) is showcasing other people’s wonderful ideas. I get inspired by women daily so every week I am going to do a LOVES post on all the creative ideas that got my attention. Will you visit these talented woman and tell them IC sent you?
Since I am on an organization kick this week I fell in love with this hanging laundry bag idea.
As a home craft blogger you would think it would be easy to sit down with my kids and craft. However, I am terrible at it beyond crayons and paper. So when the Kiwi Crate came to our house you can imagine how excited my kids were to craft with mommy. I need to remember how much they love to do projects with me.
