It is still weird to me to think of myself as a business. I mean… I love what I do so much that I did this for 2 years before I ever made a single cent. The fact that this blog (and Knock Off Décorand one more to be added soon!) adds to my families income is unbelievable to me.

The fact that I get to wake up, spray paint, revamp, repurpose and remodel… and get paid to do it…well…is a dream come true. I absolutely LOVE blogging. Although 99% of the real world looks at me funny when I say I blog for a living I will take those strange looks to be able to inspire others to DIY!

That is why I am so excited about Intuit. They are helping small businesses achieve their dreams by awarding $25,000 each month to a local business!

It’s been very exciting starting my own business, so I’m curious to know: What dream business would you love to start? By replying you will be entered to win an iPad 2!

  1. well, silly me! I just typed my whole response above (intuit)
I would love to have a shop where I can build in the back and sell in the front. I know the perfect building, it’s only 1 block from my house. It would be so convenient.
I could even hold workshops to teach others how to repurpose!
    great giveaway!

  2. I would love to sew and craft and write a blog about it. I’ve opened an Etsy store and set up a blog but am having trouble getting this off the ground! How fantastic that Intuit is doing this to help small businesses. Beckie you are such an inspiration to me – I love reading your blog! Thanks so much!!!

  3. I’d love to start my own photography studio! I have so many interests in life, but photography has always been at the forefront. Recently, I’ve been able to start acquiring the camera gear that I need, but the biggest obstacle at this point is affording a studio space.

The idea that I can be a part of capturing important moments in people’s lives is what keeps the wheels spinning (albeit slowly!) on this idea.

  4. some day, i’d love to open a little coffee shop with my husband. in our travels, we always try to pick up a unique mug for a souvenir. i imagine a whole wall displaying our mugs in a cute little shop some day.

  5. Thanks so much for this opportunity. I’ve been reading your blog for sometime and I really enjoy seeing all the wonderful things you create.

It would be wonderful to be able to sell baby items (body bibs, diaper dams, car seat canopies, etc…) that I craft on a bigger scale.

  6. I would love to provide quality accounting services to small, local businesses at a reasonable price. I have 4 years experience in audit and 3 in corporate accounting, but would love to branch out on my own. I already have my first client 🙂

  7. I would love to be able to make and sell my own craft and sewing projects. I want to blog about my disability, so others would understand what it is like to experience such a disability.
I really love your blog, I can spend hours reading, dreaming and learning from you.

  8. Because I am unsure where exactly to respond… My “business” is more of a hobby at this point. I would absolutely love to be able to expand and hire on some work at home mommies to help make my beautiful all natural waldorf dolls. In doing so I would have more resources and cash flow, therefore enabling me to donate more of my dolls than just one a month to a worth child. That part would be especially important to me since I do know that not everyone can afford an all natural doll. I also would like to expand the line to include smaller mostly natural toys (wooden, crocheted, etc). Items that would inspire the child’s imagination without the use of the increasingly popular electronics.

  9. I would love to open a quilt shop where I could design, teach and help others love quilting as I do!! You are lucky you can do something you love and get paid for it!!!

  10. What an amazing giveaway, Beckie! This would be amazing to win!!

I love design and blogging, and am still in the beginning stages of starting my Interior Design business and blog. It takes alot of time and energy, but because I am passionate about what I do, I know it’ll come to fruition and will someday be very successful (hopefully just like you Beckie, lol).

  11. I would love to start a craft/sewing business! I LOVE to sew for myself and family/friends but just haven’t decided to make the leap and try to get paid to do it.
