Better homes and gardens shoot

If you follow me on Facebook I told ya’ll a few weeks back that Better Homes & Gardens was at my house shooting for their magazine.  I was sooooo totally excited!  I am going to be in the May issue which should be in mailboxes on April 5th and in the newstands on April 15th. {Squuueeeeaaalll!}

I had an awesome experience with the photo shoot.  They flew out both a stylist and a photographer.  Edmond Barr was the photog from L.A.  And when you think photog from LA – he totally fit the mold.  He had cool hair, skinny jeans, trendy glasses and just exuded charisma and personality.  He had me in stitches with his one liners and did such an amazing job of…well…making me look amazing!

Jenny O’Connor was the photo stylist from BH&G from Dallas, Texas.  She was so easy going and fun to work with too and is so darn good at what she does.  Since styling my photos is a stretch for me I was amazed at how Jenny just made everything beautiful, effortlessly.

They were here for two days.  The first day they shot about 5 different projects of mine for their website and then the second day they photographed a project for their magazine.

I had to crack up the way they found me.  Now let me stop and say that I am a huge self-promoter.  But for some reason I really wanted for Better Homes & Gardens, or any other magazine, to find me.  Is that weird?  Probably!  I just wanted it to happen organically I guess and not because I made it happen.

Anyway back in December I asked you on Facebook if I should do a “Best of 2012” wrap up post.  They just take so much time to put together and everyone does them – so thus the reason I didn’t want to.  But you guys convinced me!  The writer from BH&G said that is how she found me.  So…I am glad I listened to ya’ll and wrote that post.

Now I am not expecting that being in Better Homes & Gardens is going to push me into a new echelon of blogging, it is just nice to be recognized by a magazine and kind of fun to see a project you did in print.

The whole time they were photographing me I was thinking “My home does not belong in Better Homes & Gardens.”  I was thinking they probably think I live in the ghetto compared to the homes they see.  But after I saw the pictures Edmund took I was like “My home totally belongs in Better Homes & Gardens.”  He is so talented and made my house look amazing.

So make sure to pick up a copy of the May magazine.  I will be in the “I Did It!” section which is usually the back page.

  13. I would love to have a professional interiors photographer and stylist work their magic on my home. It would be amazing to see the potential. It reminds me of what celebrities look like in normal clothes, with no makeup, vs. what they look like on the red carpet. Wouldn’t you love to see what you could look like with a whole team of people making you look like a star? Ah, a girl can dream!
