About 6 weeks ago I shared with you a really awesome way to put faith into action this Easter and purchase t-shirts that would benefit people who don’t have the means to do for themselves. This year $4,208.25 went to Dr. Lee of Kindred Image in South Korea who helps orphans. Kindred Image is a non-profit organization that works to support the vision and legacy of Pastor Lee in South Korea. After having a child with a disability, Pastor Lee Jong-rak brought several other orphans home from the hospital. One extremely cold, winter night, a woman abandoned her baby outside the gate of Pastor Lee’s home. This baby girl was disabled and nearly froze to death before Pastor Lee found her. Knowing that something had to be done, Pastor Lee built a “drop box” in December 2009. As of November 2014, nearly 600 children have come to Pastor Lee through his drop box.
Our family was so excited to do something outside of ourselves in a very teeny way to help this organization continue its mission to reach “the least of these.â€
Matthew 25:31-40
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for your since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger, and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.â€
The Jesus Storybook Bible we just got for Kayla (age 6) and it is the one we read to her at night. I am guessing next year she will be able to read it by herself.
Now that Isaac is almost 9 he has upgraded to The Adventure Bible and really enjoys that.
Lastly, if you want a daily resource for your family devotions with little kids the One Year Bible for Children is what we recommend. It has questions to help with reading comprehension and how to apply the Bible to your life.
I hope this helps you teach your kids about Jesus. This is a core value in our home and we have firsthand experience with all of these Bibles. Happy Easter!
Thank you for this post! I just ordered the Story Book Bible and the Adventure Bible for my 6 year old daughter and 8 year old son! Can you recommend a good women’s Bible?
Thanks for the recommendation. I just ordered the adventure Bible for my daughter. This was such a great recommendation, I had the same question as the other poster. Any recommendations for a great woman’s bible or a study bible?
I like the NIV Study Bible personally.
