elfcapades

Today is the official Elfcapades kick-off.  Our elf Ollie arrived today from the North Pole ready to cause chaos, havoc, fun and laughter in the IC home.  Please tell me in the comments section if you are joining me in the Elfcapades. This morning my 4 year old son woke to find Ollie at his door with this welcome note…

Isaac and Kayla, I have missed you so much. Santa got the note you sent him asking him to send me back. I finished making all the toys so Santa said I can come visit you. Santa heard you have been a good boy and girl this year so here I am. You have gotten so big! Isaac, I can’t believe you are 4 years old and Kayla you are talking now!IMG_1685

I can’t wait for you to play with me all day long and then at night you have to put me in my little pouch and sprinkle me with the North Pole Snowflakes.  Also don’t forget to leave me some crackers and water at night. That is what us elves eat. The crackers sound like crunching snow, and the water is melted North Pole Snowflakes, it helps me to remember the North Pole.. You know I get a little crazy and I will do fun things all over your house. I might even leave you some gifts or candy.

Do you remember the reason I come to visit you before Christmas? The reason he sent me was to remind you of the true meaning of Christmas — the birth of Jesus. So everyday I am going to tell you a little bit more of the story of Jesus just like I did last year. I know it is easy to forget with all the presents, songs and candy but Jesus is the best present of all. So here goes…

Once upon a time, a long, long time ago there was a girl named Mary. God loved her very much. He sent an angel to visit her. The angels name was Gabriel. She was scared at first but then Gabriel said not to be afraid because He was sent from God. Then he told her she had a baby in her belly that she was supposed to name Jesus.

  2. Not participating, but just learned about this here and a couple other places, so I'm going to study for next year. Next year will be fun since my youngest will be in preschool and give me some time to goof around 🙂

We got our elf too late last year (as a Christmas gift from my brother) to really get into it when I came across your blog half-way through the elfcapades last year. We have a different elf so I'm incorporating that elf along with the wonderful ideas you have. I love how you are using him to tell the Jesus story – thank you for sharing your wonderful ideas and letters with us! My kids are loving it so far and it's only been one day!
