DIY Hair Detangler and Chlorine Protectant

Hey, everyone! I wanted to share an awesome DIY hair tip with you! I used to have the WORST summer hair!  I thought I could treat it like a 5-year-old and it would still be lush and beautiful.  You know…swim all day and then throw it back in a ponytail and call it a day and *maybe* wash it before bed or maybe the next morning?  Yah lemme let you in on a tip… that doesn’t work!  I ended up having so much breakage the last two years (we own a pool) that I had to chop my hair at the end of the summer because it was so gross.

DIY Hair Detangler & Chloring Protectant

One of my goals this summer is to still enjoy the pool and swim with my kiddos, but not let my hair pay the price for it.  I came up with this amazing hair detangler and chlorine protectant spray that is INCREDIBLE!  It is nourishing and strengthening and has been a game changer when it comes to my summer hair care. Both my daughter and I use this every time we swim. This recipe makes an incredible natural detangler. You’ll love it!

Watch the video to learn how it’s done.

Protectant & Detangler -Pretreatment to spray on your hair before you hit the pool or beach.  And after treatment – after your hair has been exposed to harsh chemicals.

3 Tblsp Conditioner (I used doTERRA’s Salon Essentials Smoothing Conditioner, but any will do)
10 drops doTERRA Geranium Essential Oil
10 drops doTERRA Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
10 drops doTERRA Lavender Essential Oil

Mix all of the above in a 16 oz. GLASS spray bottle and fill with water and shake to mix. Saturate your hair well before jumping in. It will prevent your hair from turning green and drying out so bad. Also, it conditions your hair and works as a detangler too. When you’re done in the pool spray it again and comb through.  It will keep your hair moisturized until you can wash your hair and get all the chlorine out completely.  Kayla loves this so much that she asks for it daily even when she doesn’t swim because her hair is so soft and shiny.

Oh I need to do this. With three blondes that swim all the time you can imagine how dry and green their hair is. Now I just need to get two of those oils!
