Some ‘Curious’ FAQs

Why is Curious George called a monkey?

“Curious George” is called a monkey because he is depicted as a monkey in the popular children’s book series of the same name. The writers were Margret and H.A. Rey and first published in the 1940s.

George is a curious and adventurous monkey who gets into various mischievous situations, which have made him a beloved and iconic character for generations of young readers. The books have since been adapted into various forms of media, including films, television shows, and merchandise, all of which feature him as a monkey.

What is monkey bread and why is it called that?

Monkey bread is a type of sweet, sticky, pull-apart pastry that’s often served as a breakfast or dessert dish.

It’s made by rolling small pieces of dough in melted butter and sugar, arranging them in a bundt pan, and then baking until golden and caramelized. The finished dish is soft and fluffy, with a sticky, gooey center.

The origin of the name “monkey bread” is unclear, but there are several theories. Some say that it’s named after the way that the small pieces of dough resemble a monkey’s paw, while others believe that it’s because the dish is so irresistible that people can’t resist tearing it apart with their hands, just like a monkey might.

Another theory is that the dish was created by a monkey in a baking competition, but this is a playful fiction (and really fun haha).

Regardless of its origins, monkey bread is very popular treat for all ages.
