So my family isn’t huge Sloppy Joe fans, which is a bummer because it is a super quick and easy meal to make. Sometimes quick and easy is all I have time for.
So I came upon this recipe from a special interest Betty Crocker publication. I tweaked it to our liking and every family member ate it up.
Plus the best part is it can be made in a crockpot. Fall and winter just seems to be the time when my crockpot is on overload.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup of chopped onion
- 1/4 teaspoon oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon of basil
- jarred pizza sauce
- 1/2 cup of chopped pepperoni (more or less depending on taste)
- rolls – I make homemade ones
Instructions:
1. Put uncooked ground beef and onion in the crockpot on high for 2 hours.
I used my Pampered Chef chopper tool to ground up the beef while it is cooking.
2. After ground beef is cooked through, add a jar of pizza sauce, some pepperonis cut in 4ths (I cut about 25 pepperonis) 1/4 teaspoon of oregano, and a 1/2 teaspoon of basil.
3. Cook on low for 4-6 hours and then serve on rolls.

These sounds so good and easy. Pinning it! Thank you.
I hope your family loves them as much as mine did, Anne!
Another twist you can put on this, something I do with regular sloppy Joes. Take a can of Pillsbury grands biscuits. Flatten each one out. Put a large spoonful of sloppy joe mixture and a pinch of mozzarella cheese in each one. Fold in half and pinch edges to seal. Bake according to biscuit instructions. Delicious! And no mess 🙂
Great idea! Thank you so much for sharing. 🙂
