Crock Pot Sloppy Joes – Pizza Style

So my family aren’t huge Sloppy Joe fans, which is a bummer because it is a super quick and easy meal to make.  Sometimes quick and easy is all I have time for.  So I came upon this recipe from a special interest Betty Crocker publication from 2004.  I tweaked it to our liking and every family member ate it up.  Plus the best part is it can be made in a crock pot.  Fall and winter just seems to be the time when my crock pot is on overload.

Crockpot Sloppy Pizza Joes

Recipe:

1 pound ground beef

1/2 cup of chopped onion

1/4 teaspoon oregano

1/2 teaspoon of basil

jarred pizza sauce

1/2 cup of chopped pepperoni (more or less depending on taste)

rolls – I make homemade ones

1.  Put uncooked ground beef and onion in the crock pot on high for 2 hours.  I used my Pampered Chef chopper tool to ground up the beef while it is cooking.

2.  After ground beef is cooked through add a jar of pizza sauce, some pepperonis cut in 4ths (I cut about 25 pepperonis) 1/4 teaspoon of oregano and a 1/2 teaspoon of basil.

This recipe all freezes well!  Crock pot and a freezer meal in one.  I know!  It’s amazing.

  1. These sounds so good and easy. Pinning it! Thank you.

  2. Another twist you can put on this, something I do with regular sloppy Joes. Take a can of Pillsbury grands biscuits. Flatten each one out. Put a large spoonful of sloppy joe mixture and a pinch of mozzarella cheese in each one. Fold in half and pinch edges to seal. Bake according to biscuit instructions. Delicious! And no mess 🙂
