Do you know what I love about Home Right? They are constantly looking for people’s feedback regarding their DIY products. And they listen! And make changes to make their products better. Enter HomeRight Finish Max Pro on stage right!
I am a firm believer in teaching the kids that as part of the family they have jobs to keep our home running smoothly. Some of these job are family contributions – things they have to do simply as part of the family. Then there are things they get to do (called chores) that they do to earn money. I pay my kiddos half their age each week. So since Kayla is 5 she makes $2.50 each week and Isaac makes $3.50 ($4 in a couple of weeks when he turns 8!). In addition to collecting the shoes and putting them back at the end of the day, setting the table, and straightening the pillows on the couch each day Kayla has to vacuum the kitchen floor. To make her job easier we bought her a BLACK + DECKER Pivot Vac.
Painting a room is probably one of my least favorite things to do when it comes to DIY projects. It is just so monotonous and usually, in my case, messy. I am always looking for ways to make it more efficient and cleaner. Of course, a high quality paint goes a long way in making it easier. However, I have found a tool that makes the rolling go faster. Painters will tell you that dipping the roller back into the rolling tray is about 1/3 of your time. What if you could eliminate the back and forth? Well HomeRight has come up with a handy dandy invention to do just that.
When I got the opportunity to work with sugru I jumped at it. I love love love trying new products and that it was the coolest invention since the DVR – I know I am impressed too. The jist of this magic squishy self-setting rubber is that you form it in your hands and shape it how you need it and then let it sit for 24 hours and it turns into this grippy, soft rubber. You can use it on a zillion different things. I call it my “fix annoying things in my house” solution.
I have shared before how I use the Home Right Steam Machine to clean hard-to-reach areas and hard surfaces that need extra help to get sparkling again. My absolute favorite place (if it is possible to have a favorite nasty place in your house) to use it is under the toilets where the seam is. If you have little boys you know what I am talking about. And if you clean and clean your bathroom and it still smells like pee, I am TELLING YOU, try steaming under that seam. That is where is nastiness lies. For real!
Hey all you local Indianapolis fans guess who is speaking at the Indianapolis Home Show this weekend? Whoop! Whoop! I would most definitely love to meet some of my local readers. It is taking place at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. If you come, PLEASE come introduce yourself to me!
I hope you took the chance to read all about my experience(part 1 and part 2) in High Point, North Carolina when I attended the La-Z-Boy Design Dash back in October. If you missed my room reveal you can see it here. Now as a blogger for 6 1/2 years I have gotten some amazing opportunities to work with some killer brands. I have gone on brand events, met with brand executives and have gotten plenty of sneak peeks behind the company’s curtain. I can honestly say that I have never been more impressed by a company than I was with La-Z-Boy.
Do you ever take personality quizzes? I am a sucker for them and am always fascinated to learn about myself. So when Home Goods asked me if I wanted to learn my style through their Style Scope quiz and then shop based upon my style I wholeheartedly said “absolutely.”
If you know my personality well then it is probably no surprise that my style personality is pretty similar.

I have this fetish for gift stores. I love little novelty stores that sell small giftable trinkets that are unique. When I was growing up the store my mom always grocery shopped at was called Eagle (in Elgin, Illinois). Right next to Eagle was a Hallmark store. Whenever my mom forced me to grocery shop with her I always asked her if I could instead go to Hallmark and look around. She would always give me a time limit telling me I had to be back to Eagle in 25 minutes. So for 25 minutes I loved reading through all the funny cards and looking at all the gifty items. I would make a list of things I wanted from Hallmark and give it to my mom for my birthdays and Christmas. Even back then I was creative. I was probably the only kid who had a Hallmark shopping list.
