I showed you Isaac’s shiplap and shelved feature wall which definitely gives some major character to his bedroom. It was the perfect backdrop to his farmhouse pallet bed and the rolling under-the-bed trundle bed. The other wall I want to show you houses his “desk†as well as a bulletin board and a pipe coat rack to hang his school uniform on each day before he goes to school.
Let’s start with his “deskâ€. It is actually a drop down table (Bjursta in brown/black) from IKEA that I got for $40. I was planning on building one but you can’t buy all the hardware and wood for $40 so I went with the IKEA option. The reason I wanted a drop down option is because that area wouldn’t fit a desk when the trundle bed is rolled out.
So we can tuck the table away when we need to or prop it up and grab the chairs (IKEA Gunde in Black for $8) that are hanging on the wall. I used the Bjarnum hook from IKEA to hang the chairs on the wall. You can actually fold the hook up when the chairs are down as well so nobody clips themselves on it.
The desk pallet caddy I made years back out of old fence posts. I just popped in some mason jars with his pens, pencils, colored pencils, markers and scissors.
I also used another one of the Bjarnum hooks for his headphones.
The knock-off Pottery Barn Stanton Collection bulletin board I made years ago when I did Isaac’s room in our house in Indiana. I just updated the fabric and paint to match his now current bedroom colors.
I added the “Days Until†vinyl to the chalkboard with my Silhouette Cameo machine. I noticed he never used the chalkboard in his old room. I thought counting down to special days would be something he would be more apt to use. So I just added white vinyl on top of the chalkboard.
The pipe coat rack I got at a cool local shop and it plays off of the pipe curtain rods in the room (more on that soon!). He hangs his uniform on the faucet handles each night before bed.
The industrial cage light is from Parrot Uncle and it was spray painted with an aluminum color spray paint.
The wire hanging file is from Amazon and he keeps paper, his laptop and the current book he is reading in there. The Stop sign marquee I purchased at Hobby Lobby.
