Actually it wasn’t the bedding that inspired the room but rather, my mom. She didn’t like the queen mattress that has been in my guest room for years. Since she offered me a really nice king size mattress I was forced to make over this entire space. Well technically it isn’t a makeover if it wasn’t really made over in the first place. We have lived in this house for two years and it was definitely functional but not pretty.
My last guest room in our old home was featured in Better Homes & Gardens a few years back. It was hard to top that beauty but I love how this space turned out. Let’s start with a picture of what it looked like when we walked through the house for the first time with the realtor. The picture doesn’t do the wicked peach color on the wall justice. However, you can probably picture how “not my favorite” the peach was if you just take a quick gander at the comforter.
And then for the past two years it was just lack luster. So here is the bones of where we started.
The room has been painted Nantucket Mist by Dutch Boy (my favorite neutral gray color) and I had purchased a new bed frame. It is the Modway Skye King Bed in Gray. I also got two nightstands from IKEA that needed some love and picked up some clearance lamps. After a little magic we ended up here…
Can we just pause and talk about this amazing bedding that really inspired the whole room? I was searching for some coral and navy bedding when I happened on this gorgeous duvet set from Wayfair. I HAD TO HAVE IT! It is the Bliss Living Harper Duvet in Navy and I am smitten. I also got the Euro Shams as well which are reversible. In the picture you can see I have them on the navy side.
Coral has been my favorite color for years now. Usually I have a new favorite color as often as a child but coral has been a staple for at least 4 years now. I absolutely adore it. And paired with navy!? SWOON!
I will share more details and a full source list for this room this week. But for now let’s take a few more looksies at this bedding that started it all.
A big thank you to Wayfair for sending me the bedding to inspire this makeover!
