I am not a sweeper. I hate brooms. My mom used one my whole life. But it is a pain with the whole dustpan thing. It just grosses me out. And then you hang that dustpan back in your closet. Gross!
For years I have sworn by my Eureka Quick Up. It is lightweight, battery operated, and bagless. I even bought one as a gift for my dad for Christmas one year and he loves it. The few things that bothered me about it was that it would not pick up large chunks of stuff, just the crumbs. That was wonderful when it was just my husband and myself and crumbs were my only enemy. Two messy, grimy, sloppy kids later, it ain’t cutting it. Plus it never really got into the corners that great. But I always figured…which vacuum really does?
Well then I got the opportunity to review the Bissell Poweredge. It is a new hard floor cleaner that just came out in October. It is the funkiest shaped thing. We call it “The Boomerang.”
I will say it took a little bit to get used to because it is counterintuitive to how you normally vacuum your floors since the edges of the machine have the most power But holy heck does it get in the corners. I even tucked a piece of cracker in a corner just to test it out and it sucks it right up. It is nice to go around table legs as well and it sucks everything up. No more hopping my Eureka on top of a large crumb like a Hungry Hippo to get it to suck it up. This thing is awesome. It would be perfect for a pet owner who is constantly battling pet fur. It is also super lightweight and bagless. My only complaint would be that it is corded. I love the battery operated gizmos better because it is one less thing I have to do. But that is being a tad picky I know. However, it gets two thumbs up as an awesome hard floor cleaner and has now become my daily go-to vacuum.
This retails for $49 and it looks like it is available at Lowes and Amazon (but won’t ship for 3-5 weeks).

Wow… you totally had me at cracker! I'm sold as well. I hate sweeping and I have three kids who make enough crumbs for an entire meal most days! I sweep daily, kid you not. This would be a a huge blessing in my life! Thanks for the review!
AHHH!!! "perfect for pet owners"?!?! That's me! Three cats here and all hardwood floors! Ugh. So annoying. I despise sweeping! I will have to pick one of these up…thank you so much!

I have a swiffer vac that I love, but I do have to do the hungry hippo thing with it every so often. $49 isn't bad, I would have expected that it would be more than that. I have a bissell vacuum that I LOVE, I will never buy another brand of vacuum, thanks for the review, I'm going to have to convince hubby I need one now! 🙂
Oh boy! We love our hardwood floors, but we have to cats which means major fuzzies. This would be a real lifesaver, I'm sure!
So, I'm looking at my kitchen floor and it has besides your normal dirt, a yam peel, a couple of raisins and some chopped onion – would it suck that up?
