Pier 1 gave me the opportunity to go shopping on their dime for some holiday decorations.  I had not been to a Pier 1 in years since it is on the other side of town.  I had forgotten how timeless and classic their store is. I decided to take some gorgeous beaded placemats and turn it into wall art…

This post brought to you by Pier 1 Imports. All opinions are 100% mine.
Their pillow selection is awesome.  Here are some of my favorites.

This is also an adorable holiday gifts idea for the baker.  I love fun measuring spoons.

They had this gorgeous ornament wreath which I would have purchased but it only came in a large size and I needed it a tad smaller.

What I actually decided on were these gorgeous beaded placemats.

In my opinion they are way too gorgeous for a table setting where people could accidentally drip something on them.  They belong on the wall as a focal point. So I gathered up some 16″ x 20″ frames I found at a yard sale this summer for $1.00 each.

I sprayed painted them with some black Krylon paint and took Mandie’s advice from her 2nd E-book on her technique of distressing with a champagne Rub N Buff to give them a little something.  You need to buy the e-book…awesome info.
Moving on…

I had originally painted the glass black too but then didn’t like it so I went and got some champagne gold colored satin fabric and used Gorilla Tape to keep it in place on the back of the frame.       Lastly, I hot glued the Pier 1 placemat onto the satin fabric and it and now it graces my walls and I love it.  It was a great way to switch out my year round art for a little holiday one.

  2. Enjoyed looking at the items you took pictures of, but holy moly, the beaded wall art is absolutely stunning. This is the best holiday repurpose I have ever seen. Genius 🙂

In fact, YOU remind me of an Oscar Wilde quote I used in class a lot:
"Put your talent into your work, but your genius into your life"

And thanks for sharing your wall art.

  3. beautiful and a great idea! They look way better on your wall than on a table where it may get dripped on! thanks for sharing 🙂

  4. You are right…much too nice! Why don't I ever think of things like that? They look great framed. I would never guess they had once been placemats 🙂
