Applesauce Fireball Shots2

No, I haven’t tried this Fireball drink ever and, oh wow, that cinnamon-y taste and the tropical flavours with pineapple and apple goodness! This Applesauce Fireball Shot recipe is the perfect dessert shot for this holiday season and it goes in my menu this year!

First thing I have done is get hold of some lovely shot glasses (no, I didn’t have any believe it or not). And, as my friend Esther told me, I put them in the freezer for a little while just before dinner.

It is sweet, sour and slightly frizzy. Delightful. Of course that there are variations but I find this one being a winner.

How do you drink Fireball drink?

Fireball is a Canadian cinnamon whiskey. It is sweet and a bit spicy so it goes really well as a dessert treat. Although you can have it on its own, there are many cocktails using and mixing it to add a cinnamon flavor.

From adding Fireball to existing cocktails to give it a kick to adding it to hot drinks like hot chocolate, teas, spiced coffees…

But can you mix Fireball and pineapple juice?

This is the first question my partner asked. Well, let’s try it, shall we? – I replied. And to this day. Yes, you can! It is such a lovely combination. I am not fan of pineapple juice on its own but this has nothing to do, trust me.

Mixing it with apple juice would be just too much ‘apple’. As lovely as it is.

Applesauce Fireball Shots ingredients

What are the ingredients for the Applesauce Fireball Shot?

With this quantities you are making one shot.

  • 15 ml Fireball Whiskey
  • 15 ml Apple Sourz/Apple Pucker
  • 15 ml Apple Cider
  • 15 ml Pineapple Juice

It has taking me a few tries as the directions I found online were kind of misleading in the first place. So, in the video below, I am making two shots so using double the amounts indicated here below (essentially 30 ml of each).

The Rim

Take the edge of a shot glass I am using honey and a digestive biscuit (gluten free). but if you have access to it, use graham cracker crumbs.

Ginger and cinnamon sugar go really well too if you want to add some to the crumbs for the edge of the glasses.

How Do I make the Applesauce Drink?

You’ll need a cocktail mixer and a 1 Tbsp (15 ml) for one shot or 1/8 (30 ml) measuring cup for two shots.

Step 1 – Prepare the glasses.

  • Crash a gluten free biscuit in a bag. I have seen this done with Graham Crackers but we don’t have this in the UK. You can find them gluten free.
  • Add one Tsp of honey to a little plate.
  • Rub the rims to the honey and then to the biscuit crumbles and glasses are ready.

Optional: As mentioned before, now you can place them in the freezer until it is time to serve. This will make the shot nicely cold.

Step 2 – Mix the drinks

Add one of each to the cocktail shaker: Fireball, Apple Cider, Apple Sourz and Pineapple juice.

Shake vigorously for 30 seconds.

Optional: Add an ice cube to the mixer.

Step 3 – Serve

Just pour in the already prepared shot glasses and serve.

Surprise your friends and family!

Can I Make it an Applesauce Cocktail instead?

Absolutely! Just double the ingredients and add one of this options depending on your preferences:

 – Soda Water (that’s what I have done)

–  More Pinaple juice

Then add lots of ice (crushed if possible) to the mixture and shake it up!

Garnishes are the best way to use your creativity with this drink. You can use an apple slice sprinkled with cinnamon or, even better, an actual cinnamon stick.

I have seen people adding a thyme sprig as well.

Optional: Add a shot of caramel syrup or simple syrup to add sweetness. Delicious!

Can you store leftover Applesauce Shots?

Yes! Don’t let your leftover Applesauce Shots go to waste! To get the most out of them, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

This will keep their flavor and alcohol content intact for up to three days.
