5 Ways to Make a Pillow for Valentines Day

If you’ve been a reader for very long, you know I have a thing for pillows. Being able to switch out the pillows on my couches and chairs to add a different color or a touch of holiday decor is one of my favorite decorating strategies.

Pillow covers that can be removed are incredibly easy to store; they don’t take up much room, and they can simply be folded into a bin or basket when no in use.

The bulkier pillows live on my couches, and it’s easy to switch covers according to changing seasons or my tastes. It’s almost as easy to make pillow covers–not quite, but almost–and you can definitely have a lot of fun embellishing them.

I need to beef up my store of Valentine-themed decor, and pillows are one of the first things I thought of adding to the mix.

While I was searching for inspiration, I found a few DIY pillows for Valentine’s Day that were just too cute not to share.

1.  Anatomical Heart

This is the least “traditional” of the Valentine designs I spotted, and I love it!  Hearts and Sharts crafted the scrappy pillow featuring an anatomical view of a heart.  It’s colorful, unexpected, and surprisingly adorable!

2.  Heart Bunting Pillow

Heart Bunting?  Yes, please!  This sweet pillow design made by Diary of a Quilter was featured by U-Create Crafts.   I love the lumbar length and the different but coordinating red and white fabrics.

3.  Secret Pocket Valentines Heart

Think how much fun you could have with the hidden pocket in this pillow from See Kate Sew.  You could turn this into a sweet game for your kids, or have fun leaving your guy little love notes leading up to Valentine’s Day.

4.  Woven Ribbon Heart Pillow

Your Home Based Mom figured out how to weave red ribbon through burlap to make this pretty pillow.  An easy but stunning embellishment for the day of hearts.
