I love a good laundry room makeover.  There’s just something so luxe about being able to turn a real workhorse of a room into a space that is as beautiful as it is functional.  Laundry rooms are a great place to experiment with color and style, too.  Typically, they aren’t large rooms that everyone sees.  So if you don’t love the way your experiment turned out, you likely aren’t out a lot of time and money and not many people are going to see a potential design flop there, right?
I squealed with excitement when I spotted this laundry room entry in Apartment Therapy’s Room for Color Contest.  Um, hello turquoise cabinets!  Come on over to my house, pretty walls!  The combo of turquoise and yellow is one of my favorite color pairings,  for sure.  Designer wallpaper, paneled walls, marble counters, gorgeous cabinets….this room has got it going on!
If you fell hard for the laundry room in my inspiration photo, then you are going to be thrilled to discover that there are ways to get the look of this room at budget prices with some DIY effort.  Check out these 5 Ways to Get This Look:
1. Â Industrial Lighting
The pendant hanging over the counter in my inspiration room definitely has a retro industrial vibe. Â Skip the expensive lighting stores and make a similar light yourself. Â Simplicity in the South shares a fantastic Restoration Hardware knock off pendant light tutorial.
2. Â Colorful Walls
My inspiration room was papered with gorgeous floral wallpaper. Â Save some money and get just as big of a design impact by stenciling or painting your walls. Â I super {heart} this turquoise and gold geometric wall at Her Toolbelt.
3. Â Marble Countertop
Carrera marble is incredibly beautiful…and expensive. Â Gorgeous Shiny Things got the stunning good looks of marble without the hefty price tag by painting her existing counters. Â You have got to see how real they look!
4. Â Turquoise Cabinets
Those colorful cabinets in my inspiration photo are so energizing! Â If a dose of bright color is what your cabinetry needs, check out the tips and tutorial at Dans le Lakehouse, where basic builder cabinets went from ho-hum to turquoise.
5. Â Tongue & Groove Plank Walls
Sawdust Girl shares a detailed tutorial to help you get your plank walls just right. Â Those planks are a great way to add texture and visual interest to bare walls.
This isn’t the first laundry room I’ve tried to find DIY tutorials to replicate.  It’s pretty obvious that I’m all about fun colors and patterns in the laundry room.  Check out these other 5 Ways posts about laundry rooms for more inspiration:
