5 Ways to Decorate with the Color Orange

At the beginning of every year, Pantone announces their pick for “Color of the Year”.  It’s their prediction of what the freshest, trendiest color will be in fashion, design, and decor.  The pick for 2012, you might remember, was Tangerine Tango.  This bright, fun shade of orange has definitely been in the spotlight, this year.  Not everyone loves it–there’s been some debate over whether or not any shade of orange should be in the running for color of the year.  Despite that, lots of us DIY-ers out there in blogland are embracing various shades of orange….including me!  Remember my guest room?   Let’s check up today on how other bloggers are incorporating it into their decor in big and little ways.  Here are 5 Ways to Decorate with the color Orange.

1.  Upholstery

Michelle Sorensen  reupholstered an entire settee in gorgeous orange fabric that she designed herself.   What I love about this is the way the bright, modern upholstery both contrasts and complements the gorgeous mahogany woodwork on this vintage sofa.

2.  Frames

I think this colorful gallery wall at Running from the Law is just amazing.  Painted frames are so much fun anyway, but the frames that are painted in shades of orange really give this grouping the wow factor.

3.  Pillows and Accessories

This friendly sign from Sweet Pickins had me at hello.  I am so smitten by the bright, orange letters against the weathered wood, and the coordinating pillows completely make this room.

4.  Walls

Brooke at All Things Thrifty was brave enough to put orange paint on her walls–with a stencil!   You have to see how she transformed a plain white wall and created a real focal point.

5.  Artwork
