5 Ways to Get This Look: Halloween Piano Vignette

I know…I know that summer isn’t really over, and that we have quite a bit of time to prepare for autumn.  But–and you have to admit this right along with me– there is something about sending kids off to school that makes me want to pull out all the fall decor.  I’d like to update some of my decorations this year.  Especially my Halloween decor.  That’s why this picture of a not-too-spooky vignette by Carina Gardner caught my eye.

Carina Gardner Halloween Mantlescape

I love that this vignette was created on a piano, not a mantle.  Not every home has a fireplace, so it’s good to be reminded of other options in the home that serve well as backgrounds for decorating vignettes.  The white piano is awesome.  Don’t you think the banner going across the front of the piano looks amazing?

I’m excited to share five tutorials that I found for items that are similar to the ones pictured in my inspiration photo.  Follow them to get this look for a low cost.

One of the delightful things about the banner in my inspiration photo is that is so layered.  Check out the tutorial (and free download) for a similar banner at The Project Girl.

  1. I am inspired. I am a dental hygienist and this project is a must for my room at the office.
Kids will love it, but so will Moms and others. Thanks for the great idea.

  2. I think this is one of the cutest Halloween vignettes I have seen. Hmm…I wonder what my husband would say if I painted our old scratched up piano.

  3. Love the mice and I have the perfect stairway to do that on.

  4. I LOVE the mice, and I actually HATE mice so that says a lot. Super cute!

  5. I love Fall too! We hit about mid-August every year and I cannot wait any longer to begin Fall crafting and going thru my Fall decor. Love the Halloween inspiration!

  6. My 13 year old daughter LOVES Halloween! I am not such a fan–she takes over and throws a party for our family of four. She has used the mice cut outs from MS and they are adorable! She planned activities, decorated with her sister, scary music, and had a treat table. I am happy to let her be creative and take over where I am not too interested! Now– Fall decor puts me in the mood for cool days, change in colors on the trees…ahhh…my favorite season :)

  7. Well I’m not sure I’ll be bringing out my Fall deco’s yet, but I know one thing for sure…. we have an old piano like that and it would be awesome painted white.

  8. Love the inspiration photo, and love even more the how-to’s to get each part of the total look! And now I want a chippy painted piano too. Badly.
