5 Ways to Enjoy a Cup of Hot Chocolate

Brrrrr….it’s cold outside!  I’ve told you before that my favorite thing to drink from a mug is hot chocolate–especially salted carmel hot chocolate.  Nothing beats wrapping your cold fingers around a hot mug of delectably scented chocolate. Can I hear an amen?  Well, if you like a cup of cocoa as much as I do, there’s no reason to get stuck in a rut.  There are dozens of ways to add pizzazz to the official drink of winter, and I’m excited to share a few of them with you today.  (Too bad they haven’t invented scratch ‘n sniff computer screens!)  Here are 5 Ways to Enjoy a Cup of Hot Chocolate:

1.  With Homemade Marshmallows

Oh, this looks like fun!  Matt & Becky share their favorite recipes for homemade hot chocolate and  homemade marshmallows.  Did you know that when you make your own marshmallows, you can cut them into any shape you want?  Imagine the possibilities….

2.  Make it from Truffles

Mel’s Kitchen Cafe has a divine way to make hot chocolate.  Check out this recipe for truffle balls that can be dropped into a mug of warm milk for instant cocoa bliss.  This could be a great winter gift idea, too!

3.  Beyond the Ordinary Mug

Okay, this idea is just plain A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!  Go to A Taste of Koko to learn how to make these chocolate mugs.  Yes, you read that right!  Can you imagine how fun these would be at your next girls’ night in?

4.  Gourmet Variety

Variety is  the spice of life, so why limit yourself to just plain ole’ chocolate in your cup?  Over at Our Best Bites, you can find a great list of hot chocolate add-ins to help you add flair to your sipping.

5.  The Way I Like It

So, I know I’ve already shared my version of salted caramel hot chocolate, but there’s no reason we can’t test out a few more recipes, right?  This recipe from A Beautiful Mess looks almost too pretty to drink!

What’s your favorite winter treat?

Salted Caramel [Curse you Starbucks!!!] is my fav too… with either hazelnut or English toffee flavoring added to the hot cocoa!
Instead of dessert, it’s my evening treat.

I love those chocolate cups but wouldn’t they melt as soon as you poured hot cocoa in them? They’d be really fun for frozen hot chocolate though.

I would think so. You probably have to cool it off a little bit. Another one of my readers suggested putting a scoop of icecream in your hot cocoa to cool it off, that might work!
