Growing up there wasn’t a ton of things my family did together with the exception of going out to eat or having big family gatherings. However, one of the things we did every year as a family was go to Bells Apple Orchard (no longer open) in the Chicagoland area. I remember looking forward to every October when we would get to go and climb into the trees in search of the best apple.
So there is something very special to me about taking a bite into a freshly picked apple from an orchard. So I , of course, have made it a point to take my kids apple picking every year. It is just something that brings back a nostalgic feeling of family togetherness that I experienced when I was young.
It is strange to me how a smell, taste or sound can bring back such powerful memories. Do you have anything in your life that takes you back to a special place in your childhood?
Anderson’s Orchard, Mooresville, IN
So of course because I love apple picking I have quite a few apple recipes that I love.
Do you have any tried and true apple recipes? Please leave all recipes or links in the comments. I would love to add some more to my arsenal.

The link for the Apple Crisp is wrong–it takes us to the Apple Butter Pork Loin recipe!
What perfect timing for this post! We’re headed out to an apple orchard on Thursday and I was wanting some apple recipes on the ready for when we got back. Thanks!!
Made this up with some apples I had on hand. I was totally surprised by the deliciousness.

I love the idea of a family tradition like apple picking. Fun! I have a really yummy recipe for a sweet apple dumpling that I make for my MOPS group brunches a lot. I don’t think I’ve posted it yet…will have to do that!
For some reason seeing that picture really made me want to hear your voice!
I so wish I could watch you be a mom. Missing you!
Here’s our new favorite apple pie recipe…yummy!

Beckie, your family is so beautiful! I love the grin on your son!!! I have fun childhood memories of apple picking in IN too – can’t wait to be back in a state that grows apples.
Ells! You are back…Hello there stranger, thanks for stopping by today.
I love Apples. The taste, the smell, the season….
I love making Apple Butter. I peel, cut & core 6lbs of apples and put it in the crock pot all day. Usually I make 2 Crock Pots of Apple Butter because it takes so long. Then it cooks all day and makes the house smell amazing. Then at the end of the day I can it all. I have people who can’t wait to buy apple butter from me. My recipe is from Allrecipes.com
LOL. I used to go to Bell’s when I was a kid too! It’s such a distant memory I barely remember much about it. Except I think that my mom used to get their apple cider and that they would have some out and hot for the guests to burn their tongues on. I could be wrong though lol.
You had another apple recipe on here that involved a can of biscuits. Not sure what it was called, but I made it several times and was always a big hit. Apparently, I thought I was getting so good at making it that I failed to write it down.
would you have any idea of what I’m talking about and be able to share it again??? Pretty Please! Enjoy all your great ideas, you are really talented at what you do! Take care and thanks again!
I love a good apple recipe! Here’s some of mine:

Yummy, yummy apples! I wonder how far I’d have to drive to get to an apple orchard here? I think it would be at least 2 hours, so probably not practical.
thank you so much Narelle. Checking them out now.
I primarily make applesauce, fruit leather and dried apples. Simple basic recipes, but they last a long time and give some variety in the snack department.
I would love to try the leather, how do you do that?
Your blog is literally making my day! We’re going apple picking tomorrow and I needed some recipes and boom, you made it that easy, yayyy!
Booya! I love it when that happens!
