Season’s greetings IC readers ! It’s me, Kate a.k.a. Centsational Girl, guest posting in Beckie’s ‘Pennywise Presents’ series! 
The challenge? A simple holiday craft or gift under $10 dollars. The mission: create three fabulous felt gift toppers for under $10 dollars. Last year, I made some fun poinsettia pillows, and this year I crafted smaller versions just for Beckie’s readers! 
Supplies: Felt rectangles (29 ¢ each at my local Michaels); button cover kits ($3 for 3 from Joann’s Fabrics); needle and thread! 
Step One: Cut out 8 large petals, 4 to 8 small petals, square base, and 2 leaves. You can use this helpful template for sizing. 
Step Two: Begin overlapping your large petals on the square base. Finish with eight petals overlapping each other. 
Add the smaller petals on top, and the leaves to the bottom then stitch together with needle and complementary thread. 
Step Three: Create the center with a button cover kit and leftover felt. 
Attach button with needle and thread. 
Trim edges of petals for a more natural look if you like. 
Step Four (optional) Hot glue plain barrette clip to back of poinsettia flower. 
Attach to any gift !

how did you get these to be so "fluffy"? I'm not sure that is the right word… I'm just afraid if I do it, it will lay completely flat and not look as flowery natural as yours.

Back in the late 70's & 80's my Mom & I used to make smaller versions of these and put a strip of felt on the back & make a loop & and use them as napkin rings.

I love these! I had to make some immediately and they turned out great, so quick and easy! I found the button covering kit at Hobby Lobby for $3 for 6 buttons, so they were cheap too. I used glittery red felt instead because I use glitter whenever possible, and I am thrilled! Can't wait to make more! Thanks so much!
