Hello blogging world! We are so excited and honored that Beckie asked us to guest blog on her amazing site Infarrantly Creative! Just to give you a quick peek into our world, Whitney is a stay-at-home mom of three and Ashley works part-time and is the mother of 2 kids. Our favorite past time is shopping and crafting. We get together at least once a week for a “craft night”. We love scouring high and low for shanty items and transforming them into something chic, which led us to our blog Shanty2Chic! We will take you along on our journey as we learn to transform our new homes, on a budget, and prove to ourselves that we don’t need to wait on our husband’s to do the “big jobs!” We hope to inspire you to grab a paint bucket, pick up that scary tool and get to work!
Our project we would like to share with you today is our Large Vintage Looking Dominoes! Yes, you heard that right! We just loved the way our Vintage Looking Dice turned out and wanted to expand from there…which lead us to the dominoes! This was such a fun project and we are so thrilled to share our tutorial and tips with you!
We started out with a 2×10 piece of lumber that Whitney purchased from Lowe’s for $5.00. We marked off every 16 inches and began cutting with our circular saw which made 6 individual pieces.
We then picked up our battery powered sander and took turns sanding down every edge and corner to form the shape of a domino.
Now for the paint! We purchased Behr Cozy Cottage Satin from Home Depot…we picked this one purely for the name (it’s a shade of cream).
Two coats later and we are ready for the dots! We dry brushed some Behr Forever Black Satin over a circle stencil that we cut with our Cricut. It made for perfect dots…
We placed electrical tape on each domino to form a stencil for us to dry brush a line down the middle….we let it curve around the edge just a tad….
We finished these babies off with our FAVE ~ Ralph Lauren Smoke Glaze (also purchased at Home Depot) to complete our vintage look ~ just paint on and wipe away with an old cloth!
Just hammer one in the center of each domino….

OMW! Im so happy I found this link! Id seen the dice in a previous posting but honestly "lost" it(the blog) and could not remember where Id seen it. Ive been dying to re-create them for our "bonus room" which Im thinking of transforming into a game room. And now, I can make the dominoes as well! Thank you for the wonderful inspiration!:)
