Needing a Little Advice

Here is the window in Kayla’s room. I am stumped on what I should do for a window treatment. I am nervous about doing anything with the fabrics because I don’t want to take away from the painted stripes. I was leaning towards white curtain sheers similar to this since I have the blinds and I don’t need anything that blocks light. It would simply be for pretty factor. Do any of you creative people have any ideas for me? Should I go with a valance in the fabric? Sheers? Curtains?

  1. I personally like the idea of the sheers… nice, girly, airy…. I would be afraid of taking away (or going overboard) with the fabrics.

  2. Missie Krissie says:

Yes I agree with the sheers as well. It would go so perfectly and not over load the corner. Such a pretty room!

  3. Sarah @ ThriftyDecorChick says:

I know this is complicated and you only have a few weeks left…but could you make a valance to match the stripe on the wall? It wouldn’t be that hard really…find a pink and then use brown ribbon? You could even just do a cornice board?

  4. Long curtains/sheers!

  5. White, shutter like blinds

  6. oops, my fingers got ahead of my thoughts.

    Any hoo:
White, wood shutter like blinds and paint blinds to continue stripe.

  7. I have no input because I am “decorating challenged”. However, I did want to tell you that I love the room and have thoroughly enjoyed “watching” you put it all together. You are amazing!

Christmas Blessings to you all this week!

  8. The only thing about the sheers, is when the little one starts crawling…odds are, they will pull on them and might even pull them off the wall (don’t ask how I know). I would suggest a valence (sp?) with maybe ribbon in some way to echo the stripes..

  9. I would think that a nice roman shade would look fab. (but then, I like them a lot!) you could add stripes to match the wall with fabric paint, too… I think it would look great!

  10. I love sheers…and agree they’d look nice and airy but have had problems with my little ones desiring to wrap themselves up in them…hehehe! That’s okay…if you can deal with it…they don’t so much anymore…Maybe only have them go to the mid way point…a bit like a long valance? What about a shabby chic white valance..sort of goes with the fabric but doesn’t directly copy it?

  11. I think a Roman shade would keep it really nice and simple, especially if you found the pink from the stripe, adorned with a little tassel with a crystal on it :)

  12. Personally I like mixing and matching patterns and texture and stuff. I don’t think you have to worry about going overboard with fabric. The roman shade idea would be cute.

  13. I think sheers and a cornice that looks just like the stripe on the wall.

I first thought a roman shade would look good, and to continue the sleek line of the stripe with paint or fabric. The room is just beautiful!!

  15. combo…do the sheers behind the valance idea that thrifydecor chick suggested…which was what I was also going to suggest!

  16. You can use ribbon and in inexpensive curtain rod to make a valance type window covering. Use either one color or multiple colors to achieve the desired effect. Basically you loop the ribbon around the curtain rod and tie like a necktie. I’ve got a tween girl and used denim strips from outgrown jeans. We like the frayed look but you can embellish the ribbon with butterflies, flowers, buttons, etc in a style you prefer. Some hot glue, fabric glue, or stitch a hem in each end of the ribbon to avoid fraying. You can leave as is or on top of a shade or blinds if you prefer more privacy.

  17. i have no advice, but i would like to say that i can’t believe you are 36 weeks!!! BEllY PIC please!

  18. I have no advice for you (I am the girl who had a lavender comforter pinned to my window for over a year) But Happy New Year!
