This holiday weekend my FIL and MIL came for a visit from GA. This was the weekend I have been waiting for since we moved into the house. . . the weekend that my FIL would do 3 projects for me.
Project #1 Widen the niche for our TV. When we moved in we had this nice little niche where our TV was supposed to go. Unfortunately our TV was too big. So we were “ghetto” for a couple months with a cord running from the niche to the TV on a stand to the left. See the niche. . . see the ghetto cord running to our TV. . .
It bugged me to no-end. Here’s the niche midway through after we widened it.

I am not crazy about the tile around the fireplace. But I don’t have a vision to change it right now so we will see. Now I can hang my pictures on the wall where the “ghetto tv stand” was and then my room will be a bit more complete. Stay tuned for projects 2 & 3.
You can always paint the tiles. I know you can buy a special paint for that (even though with a dark tiles, you may need a lot of it
)

Good place for the TV. Now babycakes won’t be able to do his famous finger printing on the screen. I just wiped the last of his little fingy’s off the bottom of my mine. LOL

I found your blog a few weeks ago and now this is all i do in my spare time at work….. currently reading through your 'real and raw' and almost in tears….. anyhow, my fireplace looks almost EXACTLY like this and i HATE IT!!!!!!!!
